CYBERJAYA — Pendinginan Megajana Sdn Bhd (Megajana), Cyberjaya’s primary district cooling provider, has officially entered into a Chilled Water Supply Agreement (CWSA) with Majlis Perbandaran Sepang (MP Sepang) to supply centralized air-conditioning services through district cooling system for the MPSepang new administrative tower.

The formal signing ceremony took place today, 13 May 2026, marking a significant milestone in advancing energy-efficient infrastructure and sustainable urban development within the Sepang district. Under the agreement, Megajana will supply chilled water to the new tower through its existing underground District Cooling System (DCS) network, eliminating the need for standalone, energy-intensive chillers.

Driving Sustainability and Operational Efficiency

By connecting to Megajana’s centralized district cooling network, MPSepang’s new tower is expected to establish an efficient energy usage setup which emphasize on building energy consumption and operational costs.

District cooling operates by pumping chilled water from a centralized plant through insulated underground pipes directly into customer buildings via heat exchangers.

Key operational and environmental advantages for the new MP Sepang tower include:

  • Lower Capital & Maintenance Costs: Eliminates the necessity for rooftop cooling towers, heavy chillers, and associated ongoing mechanical upkeep.

  • Energy Savings: District cooling systems achieve higher overall energy efficiency compared to conventional decentralized air-conditioning systems.

  • Carbon Reduction & Green Building Alignment: Supports Malaysia’s broader net-zero carbon ambitions and Green Building Index (GBI) objectives by optimizing energy usage during peak and off-peak hours.

  • Space Optimization: Liberates valuable building footprint and roof area for other functional uses or green features.

A Shared Commitment to Green Urban Development

MPSepang highlighted that adopting sustainable utility models for local government infrastructure sets a benchmark for future commercial and municipal developments in the Sepang and Cyberjaya regions.

Megajana leadership reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding green cooling infrastructure, emphasizing that district cooling serves as a foundational utility for smart, low-carbon cities.

With the agreement now formalized, integration works will proceed in tandem with the construction timeline of the new MP Sepang tower to ensure seamless delivery of round-the-clock cooling services ahead of the building’s official opening.
