Head of Operation

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage all plant operations, ensuring continuous, safe, and reliable chilled water supply to customers.
  2. Establish, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures, operational policies, and best practices.
  3. Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, contractual obligations, ISO standards, and HSE policies.
  4. Plan and manage manpower deployment, shift rosters, overtime, leave, training, and competency development to support 24/7 operations.
  5. Build a high-performance operations team through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  6. Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of operational, energy, and performance data.
  7. Analyse plant efficiency, energy consumption, system losses, and other related KPI items, the implement corrective actions where required.
  8. Review, endorse, and submit monthly operational and performance reports to the management.
  9. Manage electrical peak demand, plant loading strategy, chiller sequencing, and system optimisation to minimise energy cost.
  10. Identify and drive OPEX reduction initiatives without compromising reliability or safety.
  11. Initiate, evaluate, and lead plant improvement, optimisation, and digitalisation initiatives, including feasibility studies and business plan case studies.
  12. Provide technical input for CAPEX planning, asset lifecycle management, and system upgrades.
  13. Act as the primary operational interface with customers, regulators, internal stakeholders, and emergency response teams.
  14. Lead incident response, system recovery, and root-cause analysis during plant upsets, outages, or emergencies.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electromechanical engineering or equivalent)
  2. Master’s Degree in Engineering, Energy, or Management is an added advantage.
  3. Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Operations & Maintenance of utility plants, district cooling systems, power plants, or large-scale M&E systems.
  4. Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  5. Proven experience managing 24/7 operations, critical infrastructure, and multi-disciplinary technical teams.
